Dive!! and the Olympics

maxresdefaultNow a lot can be said about Dive!! as a show. Some say it is good. Others say it is bad. Personally, I’m just curious as to if we will ever see the Olympics or if they are going to drag a second season out of this. I would be lying to you if I did not say that sitting in my ideas notebook there are a few post ideas other than this one regarding this show. But we are not going to talk about if the show in general is good, that’s for later. Today we are talking about something that I think the show does…right…well…I cannot quite find the appropriate word but I think this part they did pretty well.

So today we are turning to the sports side of things! Today we are looking at just how Dive!! portrays the Olympics as well as the expectations being chosen for these Olympics puts on the Oikawa/Sugawara love child Yoichi. Let’s do this!!

(There might be spoilers…maybe…continue at own risk. Okay?)

Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru Review

81989Sometimes you watch one show that, come to find out, is actually connected to another anime! This can happen in many ways, shapes, and forms. It could be a side story to a show, a prequel or sequel, or even a retelling of the story in a different setting or timeline. It is not a necessarily NEW concept and has happened to me very few times. This, sort of, happened to me with the anime that we are discussing today.  I am currently watching Katsugeki Touken/Ranbu and after an especially intense episode I remembered that a story about some of the same characters had been told back in the Fall 2016 Anime season. A show that I did not watch because that was during my anime/blogging hiatus. The important thing to remember about this show is that while they center on the same characters and have the same source material, the story is different. But I’m getting ahead of myself!

So here is my 46th Anime Review for a show that I had planned to watch and got around to when I got WAY to into an alternate telling of his story: Touken Ranbu Hanamaru.

Durarara!!x2 Review

67743Usually when a show ends with a happy episode after an intense one the episode before it signifies the end to the story. That is all there is to the plot and that happy episode shows you that everyone is happy, healthy, and the world they live in has returned to normalcy. Well as normal as a world can get when there is a Dullahan driving around, an information broker just WAITING to mess stuff up once everyone gets comfortable again, and a sword lady going around cutting people so she can control them. This was the case for the end of one of my favorite anime Durarara!! and while I was sad it ended I thought it wrapped up nicely. Then I found out there was more story, a lot more events to be discussed, and that pleasantry I experienced at its ending was gone. I needed more! Which we got. When I reviewed the first season of the show (which you can check out here: Durarara!! Review) the second season had already started airing and I promised to review it once it concluded. Two years later and here we are yet again.

So here is the follow up to my 16th Anime Review and the 2nd Sequel Saturday post. We are returning to Ikebukuro in Durarara!!x2.

*SPOILER WARNING: Since this is a review of the second season there may be some spoilers for the end of the first season*

Haikyuu!! Review

76014Welcome back my wonderful friends to the final day of Anniversary Review Week! I hope you have enjoyed the posts the last few days. I have enjoyed working on them and looking at some shows I have been wanting to talk about for a while. I do want to remind you guys that there are more posts coming for the rest of Anniversary Month, so stay tuned for those and cheek out the other reviews from this week if you have not seen them already! Today’s show has become one of my all-time favorite anime, and I know some of you feel the same way as well. I have been wanting to review it for a while but wanted to make sure I would be able to do it justice in a review. However, I am going to try my hardest! Plus, it is my birthday today and I always review my favorites on my birthday!! I did play the sport today’s anime is about in junior high and am already working on a post about my personal experience and how it related. That post will hopefully be out by the end of the month, time pending.

Without further adieu, here is my 45th Anime Review and Day 8 of Anniversary Review Week! It is time to look at quicks, salonpas, crows, flying high, and most importantly volleyballs in Haikyuu!!

Brothers Conflict Review

51409My friends, we are reaching the end of Anniversary Review Week and today is Day 5. That means only two more reviews after today. I hope you have enjoyed this week so far, and will stick around for the next two days as well. There will still be more posts after this week is over too! Normally I choose anime that I really like to talk about during this week, but today I wanted to just kind of…rant about one. Not a big rant, just kind of looking at a show that…you know what let’s just get started and I will explain. Today is also the review for a harem anime, which is a type of anime that I have not really written about other than when I watched Diabolik Lovers a few years ago and then reviewed it. I hope you enjoy it.!

So here is Day 6 of Anniversary Review Week and my 43rd Anime Review. Today we are looking at a harem anime that as a little bit of a twist: Brothers Conflict.

Kaichou wa Maid-sama Review

25254We are now OVER halfway through Anniversary Review Week, and today we are looking at probably the first and second romance anime I ever really watched, and one who’s manga I followed religiously after I finished the series. Which is something I only do with shows that I really liked. This is also a show that, while labeled a romance anime, does not center the entire story on the romance between the two main characters. It is also a show that I was surprised when I found out how old it actually is, because it does not seem like it could possibly be that old. However, now that I think about it…I watched this show right after I got my first computer and that was a little over seven years ago, and the show came out seven years ago. Boy, now I feel old. I mean the show is not actually all that old, it just seems like there is no way it came out seven years ago.

Without further rambling, here is my 42nd Anime Review and Day 5 of Anniversary Review Week. A cute little show about a student council president who has a little secret: Kaichou wa Maid-sama!

Aldnoah.Zero Review

60263We are now halfway through Anniversary Review Week, today being Day 4. Are you all getting tired of me yet? Not yet? Good! Today’s anime is one that had a great first season, one that left be questioning just what happened, but then the second season fell a little bit flat. Which is one of the worst things that can happen to an anime, and makes me as a fan a little angry when the second season to a promising anime series falls short of the expectations you set for it. Of course you also should not set the bar too high for these things either…I am rambling now so that means it is time to stop my train of thought. Moving on! I always like to pick a mech show to review during this week because mech shows are one of my favorite shows to watch. I had originally planned to review Gundam Build Fighters Try but then I realized that I had already done the first series, and decided to save that for either a later review or a Sequel Saturday.

Anyway, here is my 41st Anime Review and Day 4 of Anniversary Review Week, the review for a show that still leaves me with mixed feelings: Aldnoah.Zero.

Orange Review

80110Hello everyone! I hope you are enjoying Anniversary Review Week so far. Today is Day 2 and while we talked about a upbeat show yesterday, we are going to look at the other side of the spectrum today. I normally am not one that goes into a situation knowing I am going to cry. Sure, I cried when Seido lost in Ace of Diamond and several times during Kimi ni Todoke, but I did not know I was going to cry. There are a lot of shows out there that I want to watch, but the knowledge of the emotional turmoil I am going to be sent through keeps me away. Today we are talking about the one of the few shows I have gone into that I knew would lead to my crying multiple times over the course of it.

So let’s jump right into my 39th Anime Review, and Day 2 of Anniversary Review Week. My review of a show that…well that tells quite the story: Orange.

Starmyu Review

75765Hello everyone! It is officially the starts of the 3rd Annual Anniversary Review Week!! Yay! To kick off this week we are starting with a show that I both love and makes me laugh uncontrollably for periods on end just because of the sure ridiculousness of it. A show that, while it had it’s flaws (and trust me we’re going to talk about those) it also kept me hooked from episode to episode. It was a show that fell a little short in some places, but was still very enjoyable to me nonetheless. I laughed, I was surprised, I also got very angry.

So here is my 38th Anime Review and Day 1 of Anniversary Review Week. The review for an anime that was…interesting to say the least: Starmyu.

IMHO: Kids & Anime

6157207_5bf8054cfb87537db7c4fef08a0603c8If you follow me on Twitter, then you may know that the other day I had an experience with my little cousin that really….made me question just how kids nowadays are introduced to anime when they’re young. It started as wondering just how in the world she was completely unaware of what Pokemon is (I’m still in disbelief/questioning what my childhood was about). Then it led me to the question “Well if Pokemon is not AS popular to her as it was when I was a kid, how can that lead kids to watching more anime in the future?” Anyway, that’s what the rant is about today.

How are kids supposed to get into anime?
