Sometimes you watch one show that, come to find out, is actually connected to another anime! This can happen in many ways, shapes, and forms. It could be a side story to a show, a prequel or sequel, or even a retelling of the story in a different setting or timeline. It is not a necessarily NEW concept and has happened to me very few times. This, sort of, happened to me with the anime that we are discussing today. I am currently watching Katsugeki Touken/Ranbu and after an especially intense episode I remembered that a story about some of the same characters had been told back in the Fall 2016 Anime season. A show that I did not watch because that was during my anime/blogging hiatus. The important thing to remember about this show is that while they center on the same characters and have the same source material, the story is different. But I’m getting ahead of myself!
So here is my 46th Anime Review for a show that I had planned to watch and got around to when I got WAY to into an alternate telling of his story: Touken Ranbu Hanamaru.
Usually when a show ends with a happy episode after an intense one the episode before it signifies the end to the story. That is all there is to the plot and that happy episode shows you that everyone is happy, healthy, and the world they live in has returned to normalcy. Well as normal as a world can get when there is a Dullahan driving around, an information broker just WAITING to mess stuff up once everyone gets comfortable again, and a sword lady going around cutting people so she can control them. This was the case for the end of one of my favorite anime Durarara!! and while I was sad it ended I thought it wrapped up nicely. Then I found out there was more story, a lot more events to be discussed, and that pleasantry I experienced at its ending was gone. I needed more! Which we got. When I reviewed the first season of the show (which you can check out here: Durarara!! Review) the second season had already started airing and I promised to review it once it concluded. Two years later and here we are yet again.
So here is the follow up to my 16th Anime Review and the 2nd Sequel Saturday post. We are returning to Ikebukuro in Durarara!!x2.
*SPOILER WARNING: Since this is a review of the second season there may be some spoilers for the end of the first season*
Here we are on Day 7 of Anniversary Review Week! This week has really blown by this year, and I am really sad to see it be over. But we still have today and tomorrow, and more posts every weekend day for the rest of the month so the celebrations are not over yet. Today we are talking about a show that reminded me a little bit of my childhood. A time when my Grandma sat me down and told me the stories about when she used to ride a horse to school, or the stories about how my Great-Grandma first came to America. How that side of my family was affected during World War I & II because we still had family in Germany (the other sides of my family having already been here for generations). Then she slips up and tells me about the multiple times my uncle used to come back home drunk from parties and would pass out on the coffee table. The show today kind of reminded me of that. Except my mom was not running in after the last part to stop it because “she should not be hearing those things about her uncle”.
So here is my 44th Anime Review and the post for Day 7 of Anniversary Review Week. The review for the anime that reminded me of my Grandma’s stories, a show that I really enjoyed despite the problems that it had: Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju.
My friends, we are reaching the end of Anniversary Review Week and today is Day 5. That means only two more reviews after today. I hope you have enjoyed this week so far, and will stick around for the next two days as well. There will still be more posts after this week is over too! Normally I choose anime that I really like to talk about during this week, but today I wanted to just kind of…rant about one. Not a big rant, just kind of looking at a show that…you know what let’s just get started and I will explain. Today is also the review for a harem anime, which is a type of anime that I have not really written about other than when I watched Diabolik Lovers a few years ago and then reviewed it. I hope you enjoy it.!
So here is Day 6 of Anniversary Review Week and my 43rd Anime Review. Today we are looking at a harem anime that as a little bit of a twist: Brothers Conflict.
Today is Day 3 of Anniversary Review Week! I hope you have all been enjoying it and make sure you check out the other two posts if you like this one. Yesterday we talked about some pretty serious stuff, so today we are going to look at the lighter side of things. Just over a year ago, I stumbled upon a show called Barakamon. The review of which you can check out right here: Barakamon Review. It was one of the best shows I had seen in a while and I wished that it could have gone on forever. In a way, it did go on a little bit longer, but not in the way that I had expected. But we will get to that in a little bit.
I am back again for Day 3 of Anniversary Review Week and my 40th Anime Review. Today we are returning to the world of Sei Handa in Handa-kun.
Hello everyone! I hope you are enjoying Anniversary Review Week so far. Today is Day 2 and while we talked about a upbeat show yesterday, we are going to look at the other side of the spectrum today. I normally am not one that goes into a situation knowing I am going to cry. Sure, I cried when Seido lost in Ace of Diamond and several times during Kimi ni Todoke, but I did not know I was going to cry. There are a lot of shows out there that I want to watch, but the knowledge of the emotional turmoil I am going to be sent through keeps me away. Today we are talking about the one of the few shows I have gone into that I knew would lead to my crying multiple times over the course of it.
So let’s jump right into my 39th Anime Review, and Day 2 of Anniversary Review Week. My review of a show that…well that tells quite the story: Orange.
Hello everyone! It is officially the starts of the 3rd Annual Anniversary Review Week!! Yay! To kick off this week we are starting with a show that I both love and makes me laugh uncontrollably for periods on end just because of the sure ridiculousness of it. A show that, while it had it’s flaws (and trust me we’re going to talk about those) it also kept me hooked from episode to episode. It was a show that fell a little short in some places, but was still very enjoyable to me nonetheless. I laughed, I was surprised, I also got very angry.
So here is my 38th Anime Review and Day 1 of Anniversary Review Week. The review for an anime that was…interesting to say the least: Starmyu.
In a world where anime comes out weekly each season, one anime defied this tradition. One show released all of its episodes in one sitting, so anime watchers from all over the world could binge watch it before anime other anime in the Summer 2016 Anime Season aired. What am I talking about? Randomness in all honesty, but that is something that the show I am reviewing today decided to do. The entire show released all the episodes at one time. Hold on let me take that back. You could watch all of the episodes in one sitting if you just happen to be a Premium Member of Crunchyroll, but I digress.
Anyway, here is my 37th Anime Review for a show fresh from the Summer 2016 Anime Season, ReLIFE.
Welcome back to Day 8 of Anniversary Review Week, and unfortunately today is the last day. While I am sad to see this week come to an end, it ended up being more successful than I had ever imagined. Thank you to everyone who came back everyday to read the reviews, as well as those who joined the party as the week went by. I am already looking forward to what next year will bring. But today is not over yet, and neither is Anniversary Month and there is still more to come.
Today I bring you an anime review for a show that I really enjoyed, but did have its flaws. It is a show that I had not chose to watch back in the Winter 2016 Anime Season but I had heard so much about it that I picked it up five weeks in. It is one of my favorite shows to have come out this year so far.
Without further adieu, here is my 36th Anime Review and Day 8 of Anniversary Review Week. The review for an anime that people have either come to love or hate: ERASED.
We are nearing the end of Anniversary Review Week and I am sad to see it coming to a close. I have enjoyed this week so much and hope that you have been as well. Today is Day 7 so after today there is only one more day. But it is not over yet! Today I am reviewing an anime that I highly recommend and am super excited to be reviewing it!!
So here is my 35th Anime Review and Day 7 of Anniversary Review Week! One of my favorite supernatural anime to come out of the last few years: Noragami.
