Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru Review

81989Sometimes you watch one show that, come to find out, is actually connected to another anime! This can happen in many ways, shapes, and forms. It could be a side story to a show, a prequel or sequel, or even a retelling of the story in a different setting or timeline. It is not a necessarily NEW concept and has happened to me very few times. This, sort of, happened to me with the anime that we are discussing today.  I am currently watching Katsugeki Touken/Ranbu and after an especially intense episode I remembered that a story about some of the same characters had been told back in the Fall 2016 Anime season. How that side of my family was affected during World War I & II because we still had family in Germany (the other sides of my family having already been here for generations). Then she slips up and tells me about the multiple times my uncle used to come back home drunk from parties and would pass out on the coffee table. The show today kind of reminded me of that. Except my mom was not running in after the last part to stop it because “she should not be hearing those things about her uncle”.

So here is my 44th Anime Review and the post for Day 7 of Anniversary Review Week. The review for the anime that reminded me of my Grandma’s stories, a show that I really enjoyed despite the problems that it had: Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju.
