Summer 2015 Wrap-Up

Hello again everyone!! With the end of the Summer 2015 Anime Season coming to an end, that means it is once again time for my season wrap-up. This wrap-up is just like the ones in the past except for two things. This wrap-up will discuss a show that I have STILL not caught up with and the first show that I have actually dropped since I have started writing these. Yeah. My first drop. But I will go over why I did what I did while watching this show and will still talk about them a little bit. I will talk about all of that when I get to those shows. So here is my wrap-up for the 2015 Summer Anime Season.

Summer 2015 Wrap-Up

I always compare the number of shows that I watch from season to season. This season I was actually watching a good number of shows, but I often had to try to catch up on episodes I was behind on. This was, of course, due to my job during the summer and then trying to take care of everything when I got back to school. However, I have a lot of reviews planned for the shows that I lost track of or decided to marathon instead. Anyway, let’s get to the Wrap-Up.

Akagami no Shirayuki-hime

I am just going to go ahead and say that this was probably my favorite series of the entire season. I love the manga, and I was so excited to find out that it was becoming an anime. The plot covered a fun part of the story. Zen is by far a top love interest of mine. The one downside to was….that the show ended. It would have been cool if the series had continued on because it ended right before a very interesting arc in the manga. I just want to see more of it. The characters! The animation! All of it! This show was just so cute and I loved it. I cannot completely describe how I feel about this show, but I highly recommend it if you have not watched it yet. It is amazing.

Durarara x2 Ten

The second of three parts that are making up the second season of Durarara. The last part left us on such a good cliffhanger and that carried on into this second part. Unfortunately, we are going to have an “off-season” and the third part will not air until the winter anime season. Ugh! Why make me wait?! This season carried on the usual Durarara goodness that it is known for. However, I do have to say that this season ended a little….nonchalantly. Sure there is a lot going on in the show. Like a lot!! But no intense cliffhanger ended the show. Not like it did in the first half. But you know what? I am not going to complain about that. Because I am overall liking this second season and am excited to see the final part in the Winter Anime Season.

Aoharu x Kikanjuu

Okay, so anyone who has watched Ouran High School Host Club and watched Aoharu x Kikanjuu will probably tell you the same thing that I am going to. The first episodes are almost IDENTICAL in plot. Both episodes feature a girl, who dresses like a guy, that somehow encounters a host club. Said girl then causes some kind of damage at said host club and is forced to pay back this debt in some way. The first episode has sooo many similarities I thought it was just going to be a carbon copy of Ouran at first. But Aoharu x Kikanjuu did go off on its own after the first episode. The plot was good and it did feature the main conflict in the middle of the season instead of at the end. There was still drama and a good story line after this main conflict ended, but it did feel like some things were unfinished. Like…um…I don’t know *SPOILER ALERT* the fact that Hotaru NEVER TOLD THEM SHE WAS A GIRL!! After the drama at the end she had the PERFECT chance to tell them. BUT SHE DIDN’T!! The problem was resolved. You could have told them. BUT YOU DIDN’T! This is probably the on thing that is bothering me about that show. Well that and there was another issue that was not quite…solved. Maybe this was a way to say: “Hey, you should give us a second season.” It was still a pretty good show overall. Although I will have to admit that I had to catch up a few times when I got a few episodes behind. It was a good show though and if a second season does come I will probably watch it. There were a few things that I felt just were not finished when the show concluded.

Charlotte

Ahhhh. I just do not know exactly how I feel about this show. I just….I do not know for sure. How do I describe it? Give me a minute…..hold on…..okay….I think I got it. Here is the best response that I have to this show. I liked the first half of this show. I was all for the “character of the week” set up that it had. You know. Just building relationships between our four main characters. It was good. I was even okay with that thing that happened in the middle of the show. You know the one I’m talking about. Yeah. That one. That was okay with me. That showed character development. It was okay. Everything after that however…….uh…….no. I was not a fan. A few aspects I was okay with. The introduction of a few new characters and finding out more about some existing characters. That was all great. The last few episodes. Nope. Could have done without them. I was disappointed with the way that it ended. Like really disappointed. It could have been a great show if it had a different climax maybe. A different conflict would have been great. So many things could have been done to make this show better. But they did not do that. They wimped out and used a certain ability to fix everything. They cheated their way out of it in my opinion. The first half was great for me. The second half….not so much. And that is all that I have to say about that.

Classroom Crisis

I was originally really excited about this show. Like really excited! I mean a school where you get to build a mech. Sign me up! However, this show became one of those shows that just did not have enough waiting for the next episode. It was like “Oh, the new episode is out. I’ll watch it later.” Then 11 weeks later I never caught up with it. Oops. There was never a voice in the back of my head saying “Don’t forget about Classroom Crisis because we need to find out what happened.”. It is not like I intentionally dropped it, so I guess I did not actually drop it on purpose. It just kind of happened. I feel like this is maybe a show that I would marathon instead of watch week to week. I have put it on my list of anime to review so a review of the whole show will come out eventually. Maybe I will like it more when I have all of the episodes at one time.

Kyoukai no Rinne

This show was so nostalgic for me. It really took me back to when I started watching Inuyasha, but of course the story and characters are completely different. I did think that the story was very fun and the characters interactions with one another were very well done. I also liked the way that they announced a second season.

Rin-ne Pic

This brought me a lot of joy because it is a show that I thought was very well done. There was no terrible overhanging conflict in the show, but the small problems that Rinne and Sakura (the main characters) had to deal with were fun and silly. It was just an entertaining show that made me smile when I watched it. It was also a favorite of mine for the season. I cannot wait for Season 2!!

Ore Monogatari

Ugh! This is the other show in the season that I am upset with myself about. I was so excited about this. I loved it when I started watching it. I suffered, however, from not being able to catch up with the episodes after I got too far behind. It was a little too much for me with all of the other shows I was watching at the time. As I mentioned with Classroom Crisis, I have put this show on a list of anime that I am going to review. This is what I have ultimately decided on what to do if I do get behind on a show. They instantly go on this “to watch and review” list that I have created for myself. This show is actually second on this list after the show that I am watching for review right now. I am really looking forward to actually getting to watch this show, so please be on the lookout for the full review.

And that I all I have for this Wrap-Up. There were a few shows from this season that I absolutely loved, but I have to be honest for a minute. Out of the last few season I have watched, this one fell a little flat for me. Sure! I really did like a few shows that I watched, but they were no all perfect shows that I was excited about. Maybe I did not pick the right shows to watch, but that is just how I feel about it. It was not a bad season, it was just not the best that I have had. I also do not have any shows that are carrying over into the Fall Season so we are going to start off with a clean slate next season.

That is all that I have guys!! What did you all think of the Summer 2015 Anime Season? What was your favorite show? Any shows you changed your mind about after watching them? Let me know down in the comments below!!

See you next time!!

I think it’s funny how we ended up with similar impressions re: the ends of Durarara!! and Aoharu. Great minds think alike? 😉

Akagami no Shirayuki-hime is coming back with a second season this upcoming Winter! Yay!

I personally really enjoyed this season overall! Ore Monogatari is my favorite, but I got a kick out of Prison School, Gakkou Gurashi!, and Food Wars too! (and Gangsta, though it got no ending! Gr.) 😀
